General Areas of Psychotherapy and Counselling Practice

As a fully registered Health Psychologist, Jodie understands how biology, behavior, and social context can influence health and wellbeing. Her work revolves around the belief that health and illness are the product of a combination of factors including biological characteristics (e.g., genetic predisposition), behavioral factors (e.g., lifestyle, stress, health beliefs), and social conditions (e.g., cultural influences, work environment, family relationships, social support etc). Indeed, Jodie believes that all levels of human experience – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual – impact on health and illness and her work with her clients is centrally located within each of these domains.

With a life-long interest in the behavioural and physical sciences, Jodie’s clinical and research interests cover a range of topics including chronic illness and disease, trauma and post-traumatic disorders, obesity, eating disorders, men’s and women’s health issues, adaptation to illness and management of long-term physical and mental health problems.

She also has a keen interest in the field of Coaching Psychology, with particular reference to the management of chronic illness as well as coaching for wellness and performance.

Beyond this, Jodie is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and has extensive training in Somatic Psychotherapy. She also holds a Masters degree in Women’s Health.

While her current private practice focuses on working with adult individuals on a one-to-one basis, she has worked for decades with children, couples, families and groups in a range of settings. This depth of knowledge enables her to counsel others on how to become their best version of themselves, regardless of their background or current difficulties.
